Eastern Kingdoms: The Hinterlands

Almost entirely untouched by the Plague, the Hinterlands were the ancient lands of the Amani empire and the many tribes of Trolls that descended from it.

The temple-city of Jintha'Alor was a center of Amani culture.

Ritual sacrifices took place upon the highest of the city's terraces.

... as well as at the Alter of Zul, to the west ...

... and in the valley of Shanra'Alor.

Not all of the troll's former empire survived the ravages of time. Agol'watha was little more than crumbling walls.

Although a small sub-tribe of trolls still made Hiri'watha their home, only a handful of buildings remained.

The once sprawling city Shaol'watha lay entirely in ruins.

The Revantusk tribe declared the allegiance to the Horde after receiving aid in building their first permanent settlement at the base of the Overlook Cliffs.

Far to the west, the Wildhammer Clan of dwarfs of the Alliance carved their home and their monuments into the mountainsides.

Quel'Danil was one of the last lodgings of the High Elves.

The area's mystical portals into the Emerald Dream were heavily patrolled by the Green Dragonflight, but the guardians had been corrupted.

Little was known about what drove the dragons to madness, but many feared what lay beyond the veil in the Emerald Nightmare.

Amid all the history of The Hinterlands was a seemingly peaceful land that few still called home and many more chose to avoid.
