Eastern Kingdoms: Hillsbrad Foothills

South of the Silverpine Forest, at the foot of the Alterac Mountains, lay the oft contested lands of the Hillsbrad Foothills.

The farming village of Hillsbrad Fields remained one of the few of Lordaeron's settlements to remain unmarred by the plague.

They also controlled the pivotal Azurelode Mine, allowing the small town to remain under it's own power after the fall of Lordaeron.

The people of Southshore shifted their allegiance to Stormwind.

The Stormwind banner flew over what was once Lordaeron's Southpoint Tower.

The dwarfs of Dun Garok also pledged themselves to the Alliance.
Meanwhile the undead Forsaken invaded Tarren Mill, using the ruined town as a base for their wicked experimentation.

Once peaceful farms and homesteads were over taken by bandits and all manner of strange creatures.

The Dire Hill mines were infested with yeti.

Murlocs built encampments all along the Western Strand.

The Syndicate took up camp in the remains of Durnholde Keep.

Mysterious, malicious spirits haunted Purgation Isle.

Despite having avoided the ravages of both war and plague, the seemingly serene Hillsbrad Foothills remained a land very much in conflict.

A small monument was dedicated to a real life friend of one of the game's developers. The dwarf that stood before it bore the name of Mr. Stark's main character.
