The native Amani trolls were openly hostile, guarding their ancient fortress city of Tor'Watha. No adventurer, Elven or not, had managed to explorer beyond enternace.
The Runestone Shan'dor partially protected Eversong from the Scourge.
The Dead Scar ran down the middle of the Woods, despite the Elves' attempts to magically shield the area from the Scourge's war efforts.
When the westernmost Runestone failed, the Scourge were able to wash over the area. The Elves scorched the area in an attempt to repel them.
